The program for Jupiter observers, JUPE.EXE is found under the name
JUPIT.EXE. this is a self-extracting archive, and the name of the archive
is JUPIT rather than JUPE so that during extraction the archive will not
be overwritten. It contains the following files:
JUPE.DOC Documentation
JUPE.EXE The program
JUPE.SLB A screen library
You will also need one of the following programs, which are downloaded
separately so as not to cause unnecessary expense:
JUPE-E.EXE Graphics screens for EGA
JUPE-V.EXE Graphics screens for VGA
The JUPE package provides important information to observers of Jupiter at
all skill levels. In addition to important physical data, graphics
screens show the location and names of all important belts and zones.
For any input time and date the central meridian is calculated for both
systems I and II, and a graphic display shows the exact location of the
Red Spot. The configuration of the four bright satellites is also shown.
JUPE requires an IBM system computer with at least 256K RAM. An EGA or
VGA display is also required.
It is hoped that this program can be expanded to include CGA and Hercules
adapters next year.
